Happy New Year!

2017 is officially here! Our first day of the year was filled with highs and lows, much like most days around here 😉

The high points of the day: Going to church. We miss a lot during the holiday season due to traveling, so it was great to start the year off worshipping with our church family. We also got the cutest/funniest video of Jana singing on the way home. She is in a “don’t take my picture” phase, so we had to be sneaky. I got the cooking done for the week, and there’s ice cream in my freezer 🙌🏻

The lows: I was really hoping to have the house completely decluttered and clean by the new year. But, alas, it was one of those “2 steps forward, 3 steps back” deals. I did get a lot of junk out of the house, but I didn’t get to the kitchen or hall closet. That was my goal for this afternoon, except that NONE of the kids napped. Jana and Iris napped about 20 minutes, and Gunnar didn’t nap at all. This is day 3 of no naps from him, so I think he’s finally reaching the point where he doesn’t need them. But the girls definitely do, so lots of tears from them both. Needless to say, the afternoon left me feeling frustrated. Joel took the kids for over an hour so I could have some peace and quiet, and I’m happy to say I feel much better now.

Do you make new year resolutions? I have a love/hate view of them. I love to think of the future and make elaborate plans….but I hate to actually commit to them, probably due to the fact that I make impossible goals. Anyway, here’s what I have so far:

  • Read through the Bible in 2017
  • Yell less at the kids
  • Have more patience with the kids
  • Be authentic in my relationships and on here
  • Blog weekly
  • Attend 4 births as a doula

We will see how these go 😉 There are already a lot of exciting things planned for 2017, so it’ll be a good year regardless.

  • Iris turns 1
  • We will welcome a new niece to our family
  • We celebrate our 7th anniversary
  • Jana turns 3
  • Gunnar turns 5
  • Gunnar starts kindergarten

Add in the holidays, field trips, and vacations, and I’m sure we are in for a fun and exciting year!

Much love to you all in this New Year!
